"Tequila" is a Mexican-flavored rock and roll instrumental written by Danny Flores and recorded by the Champs. "Tequila" became a #1 hit on both the pop and R&B charts at the time of its release and continues to be strongly referenced in pop culture to this day.

Tequila/Golden Classics Edition is an adequate collection of the Champs' hits. All of the tracks are represented by their original versions, but the sound and packaging on the collection are a little shoddy, making Music Club's comp, Tequila: The Very Best of the Champs, a better option for most collectors.

Music Club's Tequila: The Very Best of the Champs may be the best choice, since it's concise -- the Champs had one great single, but most of their other recordings were a little run-of-the-mill -- but Collectables' Tequila: The Very Best of the Champs is just as good, and for dedicated rock & roll fans, it may even be a little better, since it.

A budget-priced but bountiful -- 18 tracks -- collection of the group's best. All of their chart hits are aboard ("El Rancho Rock," "Chariot Rock," "Tequila Twist," "Midnighter," "Too Much Tequila," "Limbo Rock," and an especially crisp transfer of the title track), a fact all the more amazing since the group is generally misrepresented as a one-hit wonder.

On the 2nd disc, it contains their "Great Dance Hits" with Champs versions of such dance classics as the Hokey Pokey, Bunny Hop, The Twist, and the charted single "Tequila Twist," and the album "The Champs Play All American" which is the Champs version of an album based on a Broadway play of the same name, but the album is geared to vintage /5(2).

The Champs were an American rock and roll band, most famous for their Latin-tinged instrumental "Tequila". The group took their name from the name of Gene Autry's horse, Champion, and was formed by studio executives at Autry's Challenge Records to record a B-side for the Dave Burgess single, "Train to Nowhere".The intended throwaway track became more famous than its A-side, as "Tequila" went.
